Zig Zag eels

Purchased a zig zag eel today after seeing a post i think yesterday about them staying small
went online for some research and found that 2 sites said they reach 36" and 1 site that said 6"
can someone clear this up for me
is my eel fine for my 29 gallon or not

They do get big i have seen a couple around 32 in
