This is there second attempt. first time the male didint fertilize and they ate the eggs. This time there are about 500 eggs and ALL of them are fertile! omg so manny! Only problem is the only tank i have open atm is a 10 gallon, and they are in my 55 with very hungry africans. What do i do? take the eggs out? or what.. Help mez :(

get the pair there own tank or take the egg and put them in the 10gal with a airstone next to the eggs.

I know this is too little too late but the best thing to do is leave the light on 24/7. That way the parents are pretty much on permanent guard and nothing can eat the helpless babies in the dark when he parents can't see. Also the fry will grow faster because of increased time foraging. When they are sizable enough for you to raise on their own just siphon them out into another tank with the same water.

I would never recommend lighting any tank for 24 hours a day...its unnatural, and will have negative effects on the animals inside. When I used to breed severums I just left them in the tank with the parents. It was a mixed tank, and had two large oscars and a pacu in it as well. The severums were small, but actually started mouth brooding, and raised several broods before I got sick of having to take out all these medium sized severums that were running wild in the tank. With good decorations, very few of them were eaten, but the ones that were fed the oscars, and most people that breed cull anyways. So alls well that ends well I guess.
