Zonatum vs. BlackBelt

Should I buy the 7-8" Blackbelt from Rapps or should I buy the 8" Zonatum from Ken Davis??? I dont know how to do a Poll so if someone wants to explain that I would appreciate.

Also I have an Oscar that I dont really want to get rid of which already inhabits the tank. He's 8". You think the oscar can hang with either of these 2 fish?

P.S. I will get rid of the Oscar if I have to, I just dont really want to if I dont have to.
 
I would do the Blackbelt.

As far as one getting along with your Oscar, no one can say for sure whether either species will get along with it. It all comes down to the individual fish's personality.
 
Unless you get a particularly placid one of either species, I don't think the oscar would be able to hang either either choice.
 
I love my black belt he's got a great personality, amazing color, and is really mean. From what i've seen and heard zonatum also have great colors, personality, and don't play nice.
 
I dont think any would play nice with an Oscar... Such a gamble with a fish you do not want to get rid of.

Ask Mojo. He had a stunning Zunatum but said it was down right mean. BB's??? Yeah... Mean as hell.

If anything, order a smaller one. 4"er or so. Better chance of getting along with the O!

I agree...especially considering you're talking about all matured individuals. what size tank will they be going into with the oscar?

you can give it a try but for the oscar's sake I'd plan on keeping them separate...and I'd go with the zonatum myself. :)
 
I've kept both and they are can both hold their own against aggressive fish. My 8" zonatum does just fine with my 8" red devil.
 
You can put a Blackbelt with ur O. I have my O in with my dovii. Both are 10in. The O runs the tank. He is big boss.
 
It sounds like the BB is the way to go. Is it because Zonatums are less common or is the BB just better? I do understand the risk im taking, I have a suitable place for the oscar if something bad happens.
