Hey Ken - Thought you might like to know the Zonatum you recently sent me are doing well. They are still a bit skiddish, but healthy and happy in thier new home. So much so they decided to lay eggs today! :D
Pics to be posted ;)

Yes, post us some pictures. I've been wanting to see some pics of Ken's adult Zonatum.

Ken, I'm really regretting not buying the pair of Crenicichla minuano you brought to the auction. Oh well, maybe next time.

Told you I would send you a pair. :grinno: Ken

They are definately awesome. They have only been in my tank 10 days before spawning. I put them in with a large oscar and within days they ganged up on the O and cornered him until I had no choice but to move him out. Definate bullies :grinno:

I will get some pics of them this weekend.
I am away on a business trip this week :( and won't be back home till Friday night. What really sucks is I missed the whole show and had to get the fishroom report from the wife. She reported today that thier are no white eggs and the female is guarding the eggs fiercely, with the male standing guard on the opposite side of the tank. All is as it should be; I can't wait to get home. Should have wrigglers by then :D

Here they are. The first time spawners are still learning. The eggs turned all white with the fungus, my guess is the male missed his target due to inexperience. But the female was all business, guarding the eggs fiercely. She is one tough customer, and has no reservations in bossing the male around. First photo is the female, second is the male.

Hey Ken, are you positive these guys are Zonatum? They look a bit more like the Fenestratus on Don Conkels list. Either way they are awesome.

They are zonatum, just in breeding dress. Pic I posted is a fish from the same batch. Fenestrada is a much thicker (taller) fish. Ken

Thanks Ken, their colors and markings change often and I thought they would be much thicker and taller as well, as per pics that I have seen. I'm guessing the photos I've seen are older, more mature specimen.
Anyway these guys are great! Thier first batch of eggs didn't make it; most likely not fertilised properly by the male. They are currently teaming up to clean the spawning site again and I am expecting a new clutch of eggs soon. Unfortunately I have to travel for work again this week and will most likely miss the spawing event once again :(
