Zonatus fry

Happy New Year!!

Recently my zonatus cichlids have bred in my community tank and we got some fry. What really jumps out to me is the extreme color change by the male while defending the fry. Hope you enjoy the pics

Not terrible actually. I've got some syn's who stay towards the upper half of the tank so they rarely bother them and a crazy salvini who enjoys the confrontation with the female but won't mess with the male. They are in a 225 so tank size and all my driftwood help a lot

Awesome fish, one of my all-time favorites.

I had a pair in a 125 many years ago. The male was very passive but the female was vicious.
