hey all

I have a little 2in snowball pleco and have had trouble giving him some cucmbers or zucchinis. i have tried cucumber about 7 or so times and put it in the same spot each time (before lights out) and in the morning it always doesnt have a mark on it ( except how its always sunken in but i pretty sure thats normal) i am now trying zucchini and i want to know is it better to put it in the spot he goes to hide (same spot i have tried before) or out in the open heres a pict
ok see the fake wood on the left side and the big opening in the wood on the left side thats where he likes to hide. then theres some open space i could put the zucchini where would be best for him to get to....you can actually see the pleco between the to fake plants(hes on the bottom not on the glass) on the left side the black and white thing

How long have you had the pleco for? If you just got it, it may need some time to "calm down."

Other things you can try: stick some pellets in to the zuchinni, which will hopefully make it more appealing. If you can get some pellets with garlic extract, the garlic is supposedly an appetite stimulant (like the NLS, New Life Spectrum, pellets). You can sometimes buy garlic extract separately and just have the zuchinni soak/absorbed in it for a short time. Or maybe just rub a freshly cut clove of garlic on the zuchini slice before you drop it in the tank?

If the zucchini is 'sunken in' in the center, he is eating at it. The center of the zucchini is usually a pleco's favorite part. Often times they will ignore every part except the center. Keep at it, give him time. As pleco gets bigger, he'll appreciate veggies more and more. Mine is around 7.5 inches and goes crazy over zucchini. I also feed cut up pieces of sugar pumpkin that my father in law grows.

my L095 loves carrots, zucchinni, and bell peppers. I stuck pellets inside the carrot to get him to eat it took awhile but now he eats them with out the pellets. Just keep putting the veggies in sometimes it takes a while before they figure out its food.

All of my plecos LOVE zucchini, yellow squash, mango, and peas. They took to it immediately.

Smaller plecos won't make a huge dent but my 10" gibby eats an entire slice of whatever I give him over night. Happy camper

I had a sailfin I used to handfeed cucumber to. I put it in before bedtime and in the morning when the lights came on, all that's left is the rine floating on top.
