Zuffa recently unveiled its new health plan for fighters which includes health care coverage for injuries suffered in training as well as the fights. The new health care policy has taken a big step in backing up every one of their athletes. Protecting the mixed martial artists of the UFC and Strikeforce is Zuffa's number one top priority.

Seems like those money grubbin, care nothing about the fighters, son of a gun Dana White isn't so heartless after all. I wonder if any of the haters will lament their positions? Let's have it! Any Phillydog, seems we found out where some of that money is going?

Do you guys think *boxing* would do it?

this is huge, absolutely HUGE

i saw this last night and i'm really happy about it, now a lot more fighters will want to get into the ufc

I have put on my flame resistant underpants to make this comment.

Personally, I would have to say that this kind of fighting should not be a sport. And if people get injured by it so be it. Suck it up because the human body while amazingly resilient has many places where the littlest amount of force will and does cause damage sometimes massive damage with lifelong repercussions.

I am not saying anything other than the skills and abilities people get trained to do with martial arts and close quarters combat should be reserved for times of self defence or in a time of war.

Personally, I will only ever use what I know if it came to the above point or if I had to come to the defense of another individual. For one of the main principles is that these things are never used lightly nor as the instigator.

Think what you will, make any comment you wish. It will not change my mind.

everyone has a right to their own opinion, i respect yours

and mma is not for everyone, just like any other sport

I don't see boxing ever doing it because it is run by the promoters and the sanctioning bodies....WBA,WBC.IBF,and so forth. The promoters pay a fee to the sanction bodies to set up boxing shows and it likely goes into the pockets of the top officials of each group.

Oh, I know boxing would never do this, but it was a follow up from the boxing thread.

As far as mma not being for you, that's cool. It's really not for everyone. I don't think anyone would try to change your mind. The competition isn't for everyone.

Not sure if boxing could do it since there are so many governing bodies and fighters can compete in each of them. MMA fighters are contracted to fight for one organization. We'll never no the real answer but one has to wonder whether they're protecting the fighter or their investment in the fighter
