I think people are freaking out because it's actually happening not that politics got involved and I myself have been in women's bathrooms with said women in bars and clubs bwcause the women in question wanted me in there (wink wink) but we're not talking about bars and clubs here we're talking about school bathrooms, dressing rooms in clothing stores, bathrooms in restaurants I don't see how allowing kids to share bathrooms of opposite sex is a good thing. Has someone snuck into the bathroom od the opposite sex by putting on clothes of the opposite sex probably but this is different this is saying anyone who identifies with the opposite sex can use that bathroom so now there's no need to put on the clothes of the opposite sex and go through the hole ordeal just to sneak in a bathroom now who's to say anything to a straight man not wearing a dress or a wig to just walk into that bathroom I don't know I haven't seen or heard of that

this is what I'm saying, its only a huge deal now because the governments got involved. The cases in the news I've seen so far have been dudes that generally look like girls and girls that look like dudes...these laws are opening a can of worms that, like you just said, allow straight pervs to just walk into a womens bathroom wearing whatever they want as long as they just say hey I'm a girl at heart. Real transgender people struggling with their thoughts and feelings and actual gender ID attempt to play the part on a whole. At least the ones I know do...so this was never a gigantic issue until officials got involved.
changing rooms are separated, bathrooms (especially women's rooms) are separated, etc etc etc. Locker rooms are the only area I see this as being an issue.
I get where you are coming from believe me. My gf and I have talked about this issue due to exactly what youre saying, she doesn't want perverts in the same bathroom as her daughter. Unfortunately now with the media hype all people are now generalized this way. I get it, it makes some of us uncomfortable that people think differently than us. But it happens...

Political pandering is a big issue. They should have left things be but Godforbid ur elected officials not be politically correct. I have Lesbian/*** friends/co-workers/family members and i havent heard one of them agree with any of this. Makes me wonder what the hell is going on.

well see I think its different for a transgender person...obviously neither you or I would know how it feels to want to be something that by biological definition you aren't. I'd have to imagine lesbian or *** people don't necessarily care about the bathroom issue. But if a man genuinely feels like he should be a woman then I can see where you wouldn't want to use the mens room.
It may not define someone by which bathroom they use but I think it helps them feel more comfortable in their own skin.
This issue has so many sides and corners that it isn't black and white like people are making it out to be.
Agree, i will admit i am only looking at this strictly in terms of protecting a child and or women from something bad from happening which isnt a matter of if but when. If it offends or makes things difficult for someone who is struggling with their sexuality to not be able to use bathrooms/locker rooms or what ever but keeps even 1 crime against a women or child from happening then so be it.

End of the day bad people will find a way to do bad things. we can't protect everyone but the best way to do it is to prepare the ones we want to protect for the situations that can happen in this world. I know for a fact my gf's daughter will be learning how to properly fire a handgun and also will be shown some general techniques I've picked up through my years of martial arts studies. Some dirty pervert touches her and he's going to need a gender reassignment afterwards.

That is why the politically correct need to keep their mouths shut and leave things be as you said earlier transgenders may have been doing this for years but we were not aware...now not so much.

I'm not saying we have to pander to the people this is affecting, or make them content while others are uncomfortable. BUT we can't just assume they are all rapists and just out to get our family members either. This is almost a situation similar to "don't ask, don't tell".
Don't forget they are people too. And someone's son or daughter. Remember a lot of people hated the idea of African Americans sharing drinking fountains with other folk back in the day too....then they realized that was stupid and a waste of time (at least some people did).
The people that are uneasy about the whole situation are the same people who are uneasy about transgender people in general. Whether they are in a store or a bathroom.
If my GF is bothered by people like that, that's on her and I will certainly laugh at her awkward uncomfortableness. If the person is causing no harm then I see no issue with the matter.
This is just something that will be forever divided down the middle unfortunately...no way of making it just go away short of building "everyone's welcome" bathrooms with no gender restriction, which in all honesty probably isn't that far off seeing as we have family restrooms as it is.
Not the same as not wanting to drink the same water as African americans... Atleast from the point of view that I'm coming from. Its not that sharing a bathroom with a transgender is making people uncomfortable but the safety factor.
To be honest and this may sound bad but I don't want my little girl in the bathroom or locker room with someone who is a male but identifies himself with being a female. Don't care how politically incorrect it sounds.
