Good and neither do I
good point ...this is why I don't understand their objection to their own bathroom.
Also good point on teaching your GFs daughter how to protect herself. Some of us live in such whacked out left wing states that its impossible for your average Joe to get a handgun permit.
"The next issue that arises is what happens when a person is made to use the bathroom of their birth gender and get jumped/killed by some rightwing nut job because they don't agree that they should be in there? Its a bad bad bad situation"
That is why the politically correct need to keep their mouths shut and leave things be as you said earlier transgenders may have been doing this for years but we were not aware...now not so much.
Not to mention like warborg stated are we saying that making the transgenders happy means they don't give a crap about how many women and young ladies hate the idea ????
Cmon dude think about this logically your GF, her daughter, my wife, ect ect may have to feel unconfortable when ever she/they use the bathroom in certain places hows that fair ?
ya luckily I live in PA where its still legal to stop people from killing you.
I'm not saying we have to pander to the people this is affecting, or make them content while others are uncomfortable. BUT we can't just assume they are all rapists and just out to get our family members either. This is almost a situation similar to "don't ask, don't tell".
Don't forget they are people too. And someone's son or daughter. Remember a lot of people hated the idea of African Americans sharing drinking fountains with other folk back in the day too....then they realized that was stupid and a waste of time (at least some people did).
The people that are uneasy about the whole situation are the same people who are uneasy about transgender people in general. Whether they are in a store or a bathroom.
If my GF is bothered by people like that, that's on her and I will certainly laugh at her awkward uncomfortableness. If the person is causing no harm then I see no issue with the matter.
This is just something that will be forever divided down the middle unfortunately...no way of making it just go away short of building "everyone's welcome" bathrooms with no gender restriction, which in all honesty probably isn't that far off seeing as we have family restrooms as it is.
