I havent commented on this one yet so here goes. The bright coloring, and the fading of the spot and vertical lines on the body scream male. The spotting on the face is clear and does not appear to be "wiped on" like blue bearding also makes me think male. The body shape will make it more clear as it grows... the only thing that looks female to me is the lack of trailers. But I find u can't always depend on those. Ive has lots of female cichlids with long trailers.

Male, far to blue to be female.

It does not sound like a sub dominant male then.The main aggressor in the tank with no male dominant features,and at that size.Female.
