My House!
So, we see a lot of posts asking how much a certain fish is worth, and I thought it would be a good idea to get an idea about how much my fish are worth in other parts of the world. Then I thought, why not get an idea of how much a bunch of different fish are worth in different locations, some of these fish I've never seen where I live but they seem common on here so I'll add them too, but I'll have N/A beside their price.

Be sure to add in your post where you live (just country/state) and what currency you're using. Also, please try to stick to the few fish mentioned in this post, so we can get an accurate idea on price difference. Here we go, try to lay yours out similarly to this so everyone can understand:

Location: Tasmania, Australia.
Currency: Australian Dollars (AUD)

1. Silver Dollar (M. Argenteus or M. Hypsauchen) @ 6-7cm - $35-$45

2. White Cloud Mountain Minnow (Tanichthys Albonubes) @ 1½cm - $3-$4

3. Common Goldfish (Carassius Auratus) @ 4-5cm - $3-$4.50

4. Veil and Crown Tailed Bettas (Betta Splendens) @ 3cm - $8-$12

5. More Fancy Bettas (Half Moons, Elephant Ears etc) @ 3cm - up to $60

6. Bronze Corydoras (Corydoras Aeneus) @ 1½cm - $3:50-$5

7. Black Widow/Black Skirt Tetra (Gymnocorymbus Ternetzi) @ 2cm - $3-$4

8. Electric Yellow Cichlid (Labidochromis Caeruleus) @ 4cm - $15-$20

9. Convict Cichlid (Amatitlania Nigrofasciata) @ 4cm - $8-$14

10. Jardini Arowana (Scleropages Jardini) @ 20cm - N/A

11. Indonesian Tiger Fish (Datnioides Microlepis) @ 20cm - N/A

12. Wolf Cichlid (Parachromis Dovii) @ 20cm - N/A

13. Azul Peacock Bass (Cichla Piquiti) @ 15cm - N/A

14. Black Ghost Knife (Apteronotus Albifrons) @ 4-5cm - $20

15. Kuhli Loach (Pangio Kuhlii) @ 5cm - $5

16. Clown Loach (Chromobotia Macracanthus) @ 5-7cm - $15

17. Oscar Cichlid (Astronotus Ocellatus) @ 5-7cm - $15-$20

18. Upsidedown Catfish (Synodontis Nigriventris) @ 2cm - $25

19. Red Tailed Catfish (Phractocephalus Hemioliopterus) @ 10cm - N/A

20. Chinese Algae Eater (Gyrinocheilus Aymonieri) @ 3cm - $6

21. Giant Danio (Devario Aequipinnatus) @ 4cm - $8-$10

Okay, I've tried to add an assortment of fish, and how much I pay for them (where possible), now its your turn! How much do these fish (at these sizes to avoid confusion) cost where you are?

Post Script: please try to keep the "omg that's a bargain/rip-off!" to a minimal. ;)

I got my bgk for $25 at 7-8cm. That was the only size they had, because I asked my lfs to order in a small. It took nearly a quarter of a year to get one in. I have to say the wait was worth it.

So you pay an extra $8 for a bgk twice the size of what I usually see here for $20? That makes me think that maybe some of our fish over here aren't as expensive as I'd first thought..

Anyone else want to have a go? Just pick a fish from the list, and put how much you pay for it in your area. :)

How is twice the size for only $5 more expensive?

Never mind. I see now that you were talking about Australian dollars and not American. $25 American is $35 Australian, but it is still less than twice the price for a fish about twice the size.
