So, I got a call around lunch time Saturday from my aunt telling me that my comet was belly up in her pond. So over we went to get him out.
My hubby took him to the "pet cemetery" at the in-laws house while I stayed and tested the pond to see if I could work out what happened, I have no idea what happened. Water params were fine, nothing was out of the ordinary so there was (seemingly) no reason he should of died.
Hubby measured him before he buried him, he was 13 inches apparently which is huge compared to the little 2 inch comet we brought a few years back...

I haven't had this problems with my goldfish yet... Well sort of once when I put a bunch of azola in the tank and one got sick... Clean water and good food (and no more azola!) fixed him up fine... But its not always that easy.
