Dont do increased amounts right off, do multiple smaller ones frequently till your tank water is as similar to your tap water so you don't have the risk of osmotic shock
I didn't......my water PH in my tank and faucet never varies more than 0.6 - so when I mix it all together it only fluctuates 0.2-0.3 , mybe 0.4 at most.

As I stated before Cichlids aren't b****es when it comes to WC's and you could go a whole 1.0 in PH or more (I actually have) and cause no harm at all, but also remember the 1st thing I do after a WC re-add 1TBSP of Salt per 5 gallons of water so i'm sure that relieves any stress right away.
