    TANKED NEW SEASON!!!

Saltwater tanks take about a month to cycle. More for larger tanks. The only way to speed it up is to pre-culture or "seed" the filter media with nitrifying bacteria in a separate system before the tank is installed and running. However, there will still be a toxic ammonia spike that will be...

New member- and empty 135 to fill

OK, going to the pool supply store tomorrow for filter sand for a substrate. Thinking 150 lbs should do it. Then I'm getting out the SeaView and installing my black background. Saturday will hopefully have a trip to Lowes in store so I can get some panelling to dress up my stand. Then, the 7 day...

    Got Bitten!!!!

Agreed. They heal like Wolverine haha. When my rbp's were juvis they'd nip and bite all the time. After a few weeks you could hardly tell. No worries. Sent from my DROID X2 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

Every tank is a bit different but yeah a month to 5 weeks is pretty much it. Its a long time to stare a running tank with sand and rock with no fish! Haha Sent from my DROID X2 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

Cool. I wouldn't do more than 3 anyway. What type of filtration is best? I have canister filters and wet/dry setups. The 2 canisters have spray bars and are rated for 200 gallon tanks. My old saltwater sump is 30 gallons with an 850 gal/hr pump Sent from my DROID X2 using MonsterAquariaNetwork App

Yeah I knew they get rather large. I was planning on getting a juvi and moving it into an 8x3 when I take down one of my saltwater tanks. If I go with tats how many is considered safe in a tank my size? Odd number groups?

Hey guys and gals, official first post haha. I've been a saltwater predator/reef guy for almost 14 years. I have a 135 sitting around and wanted to go fresh this time. I've had multiple piranhas before and currently. Id really love to dive in with armatus. I've read the sticky regarding their...
