Iv fished for these and kept them, You need relatively fast moving water they always in fast moving streams that's how they hunt. Don't worry about feeding they take long to adjust keep the light off too.
As they live at depths of 2300 ft below the sea level, fishermen catch what is know as the Latimeria here, when they come up to about 100 ft sea level when its full moon otherwise you will never really see one
IMO from moving koi make sure its round and not any other shape, other shapes tend to disrupted the water and cause a lot of waves when in transit
i found that circular ones don't, just my 2 cents

Well i think its down to what they eat and the amount of space they have, I mean if they have less chance of getting it in the wild it has to be down to those two IMO
