In the wild, they will also venture into estuaries and mangrove forests looking for food. Some even say that there are landlocked populations in pure freshwater.
So when people say freshwater tarpon for sale they really are freshwater. Or are they like groupers that have to go back to salt once they get older? And how are they to keep in an aquarium?
They can handle both after acclimation. I don't thinkany hobbyists have kept them into adulthood in fw since they are quite new in the hobby but some zoos might. Those hobbyists that keep them in fw right now do not have any problems w/ them though.
Ok thanks, I'm thinking about maybe making a pond to move my gar into and I thought it would be cool to get a school of tarpon in it since they get big as well but wanted to know if they would be ok in freshwater.
