Potamotrygon Histrix, Columbia and peru..?

Hey guys.. I know that brazil has closed all trade with rays.. But I have read and heard that Potamotrygon Histrix lives in Peru and Columbia to.. Is this true..?

they would be more readily available if from columbia or peru....
 
I have heard this as well. There are parts of Columbia that they are in, just not frequent. It was actually Spencer Jacks that told me so it must be somewhat true

True P. Histrix only come from Brazil..

Many fisherman and exporters use the name 'Histrix' or 'Hystrix' to increase sales.. It is well known that this is one of the smallest species of stingrays.. It will help export sales if the importer believes this is what they are ordering.. I have ordered MANY of these 'Peruvian Hystrix', and they all are Potamotrygon sp. "Peru", P. Orbignyi, or P. cf. Yepezi..

This is one of the major flaws in identification.. Whatever the fisherman want to call it to increase profits.. eg: The true flower ray vs. peruvian flower ray, and so on..
 
Well I thought so too.. My ray dealer has ordered “hystrix” 4 times and received 5 different species.. No hystrix though.. I would like an additional 2 females.. but ill live.. :)
Potamotrygon orbignyi, Potamotrygon yepez and Potamotrygon motoro sp. Columbia is still nice for 50 dollars though.. ^^

They are nice affordable rays, and replace the generic 'teacup' ray (hystrix) that so many brazilian importers used to carry.. Now a true Hystrix will run you atleast a few hundred because of their rarity and Brazil being closed for export.
 
3000 kr = 600 dollars. for a "real" hystrix.. Could it be a truve hystrix..?
