Two things, I agree, I hate losing fish.
and, wow, this is pretty cool!
those subocular spines are pretty fearsome looking!
(10 years of clown loach keeping and I have never seen them raised, except in a picture, so that's why I think this is cool)

they do eat fish flesh as they get older, I read an article about breeding them somewhere (loaches.com) I think it was, fish flesh was part of the diet mentioned.

My clowns range is size from about 8-9" down to 2". This skeleton was a 2-2.5" and I am just amazed how clean the skeleton is picked!! I don't think about these fish as carnivorous but I did always know they were.

I know these CL have escaped the maw of the 12" koi I have in there once or twice....that fish eats fish too!! It must be the spines that keep other fish away!!
