go polys, awsome fish, get some other african odballs too, and do the tank up in rockwork with some plants (and dont forget the moonlights).

i would do sumthin like this

3 Polys(you choice which)
1 Mormyrid (agian, your choice)
1 African Brown knife
1 African B-fly
2-3 Leopard Ctenopoma

actaully im doing pretty much that same tank but with inly 1 poly and 2 Ctemopoma

with my 100 soon.......
 
my tanks not much bigger (7 x 2 x 2 1/2) and it contains an oddball mix of some south and central american cichlids with some monsters in my channa aurantimaculata, mbu puffer and 5 polypterus( 3 x 11" senegal, 1 x 14" ornatipinnus, 1 x 9" endlicheri congicus)

so gar? no gar? im thinkn ill start it with my bluegills and bullhead so i can save some money for the other fish without the tank being empty. im thinking about breeding convicts for feeders using my 2o gal to breed and my 5.5 and a 20 tub for fry so i an provide feeders if necisary.
 
I would suggest a tank with odd, passive predators. The more aggressive the fish, the less you can have. I'm dealing with that now in my 125.
