They are fine as singles. Mine was a single in a 150 with severums, geos, and acaras. He didn't mind.

Save yourself the headache with the psittacus. They are beautiful fish but they are belligerent when they hit adult size and they will get pushy with all your fish. I had to rehome a few of my favorite cichlids when my psittacus finally hit the 10 - 12" mark, and then he ate a few others. In the end, the only fish tough enough to deal with him were my lenticulata pikes and a breeding pair of Atabapo severums.

yea, after reading a few of your past comments, and a few of the other guys who've kept them over the years I went with some red sevs and chocolates. they'll be here tomorrow. Price on the psittacus + their later aggression levels in smaller tanks (sub300) wasn't worth it.

Would you think a threadfin would be okay in a 150 with a Senegal bichir, severum, and some dither fish or do they need to be in groups?

Eventually I plan to be down to 1 or a pair..1 will be fine if that's what I decide. Plenty of examples throughout the years on this forum :) I wanted to get a bunch of juvies and have 'pick of the litter' so to speak when they reached larger sizes. I trade in my others for food credit at the LFS.

Where did you buy yours from?

I picked up about 250$ of fish through them. The only thing I wasn't pleased with were the rainbow fish.. a lot of them got sickly or stressed.. not sure.. started dying off. The 3 bosemani's though are doing great and have acted as great dithers. I got the rh tapajos + the bleeding heart tetras from snookn21(used to be a vendor here and posts most things on his stocklist and aquabid now). I also grabbed that 'big bag' of black neon tetras from gunpowder, and had some of them having babies 3 months later..I took a lot of them out and spread them between my 2 daughters 20 gallons, but will be bringing them back to the 125g soon.

Huge plus to going through them was that I could upgrade the 'free priority' shipping he offered to next day delivery for like 17$ or so. Fellow is a stand up guy.

Well I was grabbing a few photos of my L14 and L75 and saw one of my lady RH taps fanning crazily and bringing her boyfriend down to her.. turns out they were busy putting down eggs. 1 year and 1 week to the day of being added to the tank as little 2" juvies. Will be amusing to see if anything is there in the morning.

Well about to do a wc today and go ahead and pull 5-6 heckelii out to take in for store trade. They've gotten pretty big over the last year, ranging between 5-7". Gonna hold on to the Rh taps for another month because the lfs will only take in x amount of trade value. So here is what things are looking like now. Pics are witht he phone again so not much in the way of quality but pretty good size references.
