Hello everyone. Sometimes you just feel dumb. I was convinced that I had a gallon of resin. I look all over the house for it and my local fiberglass shop was closed till Tuesday. Tuesday after work I am driving to the f/g shop and what do I remember....I had a gallon of resin in the back seat of my truck. Quick u-turn and I started cutting clothe. My son help me out and cut the cloth, layed-up the resin and coated the entire interior in just under an hour. The seams are a little resin rich and will need a bit of sanding but that won't take me more than fifteen 20 minutes. With fiberglass, I would rather lay it thick and even a bit sloppy so I can mix it hotter and sand latter than take a lot of time detailing the clothe and the lay-up and still have to sand a bit anyway.
The box is sitting outside today, and it is really cold (in the low 50's). If it warms up I will sand today. if not I will wait till it warms up so that I can sand and lay another layer of clothe. Specially in the corners.
I have never done this before. How many layers of cloth is standard on this type project? I was going to use two prior to gelcoat.
