Not the best filter out there. But at is a good budget filter, for the money you cant really complain.
I had a 1000 on a 65g and it did alright. I currently use two 1500's on my 120g.
Here is the biggest issue; they have lots of by-pass. But they can be made to work more effectively by a simple mod. When installing the first basket into the can either cut a 1 1/2" x 24" Blue bonded filter strip and wrap it around the bottom basket or stuff around it with filter floss. This helps force the water through the bottom basket. The middle basket is not an issue because this is most likely where your bio-media will be. Do the same wrap around the top basket to make sure water ends up going through it on the way out. This simple mod will help you get the most from your Cascade.
For $40 its a good deal. In 17 months of continuous operation the only expense mechanically to my filters has been new impellers. Not that expensive if purchased on-line.
