Uhh, I want to say 2 coats to start. When I've redone the tank I have given it another coat to keep it looking fresh. I'm getting ready to do it again here in the next couple weeks to keep it looking new and sealed. I also do all around the floor since it's in the basement to keep the floor safe as well, it also looks nice having everything nice white and shiny :)

Wow! I've just spent the past 1 1/2 hours reading this thread! Really inspired. Now I just need to buy a house and build my own!!! My wife found it hilarious that you can swim in your aquarium!

Well, sad to report this but it's a sad sad day for me. I just want to say thank you all for the support and appreciation, you guys and gals have been fantastic. We have sold our house and the new owners wanted the tank torn out :*( I will say that tearing this thing down makes me truly appreciate how well it was built. The wood looks brand new all the way around. Not a single blemish and I truly mean that. Under the tank looks perfect, not spots anywhere, it's as if I bought the wood yesterday. Hopefully I can build a new one at my new house but only time will tell.
