I'll be ordering new lights very soon so I can get more plants in there, then the basement is getting finished paint, trim , carpet etc.

For the Lighting I'm looking at 2 of THESE or THESE Most likely the first one since T8 are way cheaper than the T5HO's

No just 2 part epoxy and bondo to fill in all the screwheads and seams.

I upgraded the lighting but I didn't get what I wanted to since I spent a little more than I expected on Christmas but the wife and kids are happy. Here is a pic of the extra pair of T12 fixtures. I also took out the crappy 4100K bulbs and replaced them with 6500K bulbs.

The 2nd set was off when I took the pic since they ae set on different timers. One set is on for 11hrs from 9am to 8pm and the other for 6hrs from 11am to 5pm to try and mimic the daylight.

I've also replaced the pump in the tank from a Gen-X 8500 to a Quiet One 4000. The current in the tank was a bit to much and the gars didnt seem to like the current to much before but now they have already started to swim around in other areas of the tank more often.
