Your only going 30" deep? I always figured the more water the better just for stability reasons, easer to maintain temps and so on. LOL that's still a crap load of water! Keep the updates coming

Its going to be about 3 feet tall, but with the floor, some plywood, and a couple inches at the top it ends up with about 30" of water. More water is better but 3 feet is a nice easy height to deal with.

All the rays that are moving in are currently in a 6'x6' 20" deep 500 gallon tank, so this is going to be a big upgrade for them. Update on its way in a few minutes.

Today I got the base for all the walls built and started on the rear section of the walls. Its broken up into 3 sections to accommodate the windows, once all 3 sections are built a top similar to the base will be added to hold it all together and provide a top brace for the windows. Planning on getting done with stacking the 2x4s tomorrow or Sunday at the latest, then onto plywood.

Looks good. Just a question, wouldn't a frame of 2x4 do the same thing rather than the stacked 2x4? I seem to remember VLDesign did it that way.

A frame with plywood would flex more than solid 2x4s. Since we are using some fiberglass resin the less flex the less likely to have any cracks. Could probably get away with just a frame but we did the last one this way and it worked, so why change what works.
