Ok, here are a few pics of the inhabitants....Anyone who knows me from AC will know i dont do full tank shots, but, eventually, you'll be able to piece it all together....

Who says filters and skimmers are needed for corals to thrive.... ;)

Pics in no real order....

cause all he has is the macro lens

Thats awesome! I think I'm definitely going to do something like that. Are you using any type of lighting system? I can't remember if you posted it. I have loads of questions.
Is it just live rock no plants?
Are you using any circulation system like a powerhead?
Is there a sump connected?
What type of substrate?
And a tougher one whats a full or good listing of your inhabitants?
Awesome looking tank I fell in love with it :)

<<Yes, i am using a 2 x 150w metal halide pendant>>

I have loads of questions.
Is it just live rock no plants?

<<Yes, just live rock, coral, fish and invertebrates>>

Are you using any circulation system like a powerhead?

<<Yes, the circulation is provided by just powerheads>>

Is there a sump connected?

<<Nope...No sump, no refugium, nothing else>>

What type of substrate?

<<Its aragonite 1.0 to 2.0 grade reef sand>>

And a tougher one whats a full or good listing of your inhabitants?

<<I dont get what your after there mate>>
Awesome looking tank I fell in love with it :)

Cant comment on others setups but ille tell what mine had.
Are you using any type of lighting system? I had 150w halide and a basic 36w (or whatever 3 footers use) acintic fluro.
Is it just live rock no plants? I had live rocks and some type of caulerpa. I had 2 types but got lazy and 1 grew over, out competed and ended up smothering the other.
Are you using any circulation system like a powerhead? Roughly 3000litres an hour of powerheads.
Is there a sump connected? No sump or any other type of filter
What type of substrate? just basic Coral sand/gravel (small 1-2mm pieces)
And a tougher one whats a full or good listing of your inhabitants? I had FISH- 2 golden (sumatran?) maroon clowns, dottyback, 2 bicolour blennies and for the last few weeks a mandarin (tank was filled with pods coz of all the macro) CORAL- colt coral, brain coral, correlimorphs, zoa's, Lots of small stuff i couldnt identify that grew out of the LR and an anenome for awhile at the end.
Not that relevant but i gotta add the tank was fairly perfect most of the time. Admittedly if i fed heaps i may get a small algae bloom and the macro had to be constantly cut back as it just wanted to smother everything so it was def abit more touchy then a proper setup tank. I ended up losing everything because we had a huge storm and my house had no power for 5 days. I ended up just leaving most in there to rot which was a huge stinking mess that stunk my house out and could barely see the back of the tank. All i did (once we had power again) was 2 half water changes over 2 days too cut the stink down and left it running. Within around a month or so i had coralline starting to grow back again.

yes it has been done in marine setups its called ecosystem filtration where there is a huge fuge packed with lr deep live sand bed and lots of macro algae and the tanks are packed wth live rock and corals the thing is atm they still do very lights kimming aka a skimme rrated to a quarter of there water volume
