Hepsetus Ode question:
A guy off of MFK is trading some fish with me and he has 3 african pike which are involved in the trade. I was reading in a book I have that these fish generaly liek a pH of 6.8 I was going to keep them in a tank with my Malawi's and I keep my pH up around 7.8-8.0, will the pike tollerate high pH? He has his in with a mix of Mal's and Tang's. I use Cichlid Chemisty, Cichlid essential/Cichlid pH buffer by KENT for my chemical needs. Would the pikes be good in water with a high pH? anyone have any thoughts? it would be much appreciated!!

These fish will thrive in higher ph conditions than the books state for them. 8.0 is a high, but 7.8 will be fine so long as it is acclimated slowly. I take it that it is being kept at quite a bit lower ph than you have in your tank. If so, gradually bring it up by no more than .2 per day until reaching 7.8 Good luck!
