It's been said that Shortnose Gar tend to become more spotty and patterned in clearer water, do think this might be the case here on the Longnose?

yeah, that is the case with many gar species...and many fish species in general. clearer water tends to have more vividly-patterned fishes, more turbid waters less so. there is less need for camouflage when one can't see through the water. we have seen many examples of this with gars - if you look at the spotted gars from two populations gar quiz you can see a great example...of course, the gar quiz is buried somewhere in the stickies :irked: :frog:
