Hello
I have an empty 25gal and am wondering if there are any geophagus or something similar that could go in this size tank for life?
I have no experience with them (besides they look purdy!) so any info and pix are appreciated.
Thanks :nilly:

For life? No, not really. But most of them are slow enough growers that if you got them as fry around an inch you could house 2 or 3 of them for a very long time.

A tank that size is more fit for dwarf cichlids or apistos or rams or something a bit smaller. I think I've seen firemouths in smaller tanks too, but they may just have been young. I can't remember how big they actually get.

Probably not, they get pretty big.

You could always get rams though. They look kinda like Geos, but they stay tiny.

Microgeophagus ramirezi and Microgeophagus altispinosa are really the only "eartheaters" that are going to do well in that tank size. Blue rams are more attractive, but bolivian rams act more like an eartheater. Apistogramma would also be a good option.
