I was straining some coconut soil for my treefrog, and I noticed that the water left over was stained a deep brownish color, similar to driftwood tannins, and it got me thinking... could coconut soil be used in an aquarium, to lower pH?
I'm not sure that I'd throw it into a tank loose, because it'd make a huge mess and probably clog up the filter. But what about ringing it out? Or introducing it to the system through some kind of specialized filter? I know some people use different kinds of wood, leaves, etc to lower pH and create softer water conditions.
