Hi, I've been pondering a betta for my 29g. (neutral pH)

I've kept splendens countless times in the past, and want to try something else. It seems as though most "wild" bettas require a crazily low pH, and my pH is about neutral. PH-wise, it seems as though I am just about limited to the splendens complex, which includes splendens, smaragdina, and mahachaiensis. Any pointers on either of the latter two species? Are they practically the same in care? I'm somewhat familiar with these species, but have never kept them. I also have a lot of good LFS that might be able to get them eventually.

Another consideration is Betta picta, outside of the splendens complex. If anyone has any info, I'd like to hear.

Betta Macrostoma! I’ve looked into these, and a pair of them would be cool.

In the wild, they like slightly acidic water, but will tolerate up to 7.5PH

If you wanna spend some $$$, then these are for you :cool-1:

If you want a group, something like albimarginata, coccina, or rubra would work great. Otherwise a pair of antuta or unimaculata would be just as good.
