Was wondering how long a 4 inch arowana would take to grow out of a 55g. Then have to be moved to to a 125g until it's final resting place of a 265g tank or larger? Reason being is I have friend asking to grow out one for him and I have a 55 and a 125 I could use to accomplish this.

My 2 cent..once it hit 8-10" move it out from 55g..12-14" move it out from 125g..

Ideally you want the aro able to turn and swim because of the long body. But bigger tank always better and faster grow.

Start with he largest tank you can. If you use the 55 the aro will quickly become uncomfortable and will start to get jumpy.

55 gallon will only last 5-6 months. :( Speaking from experience. Lol like sticky said, bigger is better, always when it comes to aro's.

Ok thanks for the info. Kind of kicking myself in the butt now since I had a chance for a 180 for a great price that I passed on a few months back.

If your arow is already 4 inches i wouldnt keep it in a 55 past 9 inches or so....with good husbandry that arow can go from 4 inches to 9 in 2-3 months easy

Tank first, then fish.

Minimum is around 8x3 depending on who you talk to.

better if you placed your arowana on the bigger tank to avoid transferring when it is already grown up.and also it would prevent stress for your aro for being transferred from one tank to another
