A newly formed pair of Astatheros nourissati unexpectedly spawned in a 'bare bones' 70G temporary holding tank. There is nothing but a substrate, sponge filter and heater in the tank, and despite the lack of good spawning sites, they chose to put down their first spawn on the glass, in one corner of the tank. There are four other 'nourissati' in there with them and the pair have them clustered at one end. The eggs have since hatched and the parents have moved them right out into the middle of the tank. I have siphoned out around 50 fry, and have left the rest with the parents.

Oh how i envy you right now!!! I've had mine for going on 4 years now and can't get them to spawn to save my life. A lot a pre spawn behavior/courting. By far my favorite fish. Congrats
