Is yours an Orbignyi? Can't be sure from your pic but if it is you likely won't see a difference due to substrate colour but I would say marbles are very affected by the substrate colour.
Yea unfortunately it's a marble. Good thing about this site is you always learn something new sometimes even by accident. But yea I ordered some torpedo beach . Ive heard nothing but good things about it.

Anyone try to keep them with black sand blasting sand?
I don't have rays but I'm planning on using the ultra fine Black Diamond blasting sand with my fire eels. I got 200lbs of it for less than $35. It doesn't really appear to be and different than regular sand.

Make sure you rinse it. They may contain oils
