I saw some blue botia that I'm interested in. The thing is the only tank I can put them in is my african cichlid tank with a red tailed black shark. Read that it shall not work out, but would appreciate some expert advice over here.

I kept skunks and sun loaches with mbunas. No problems at all. Watch out for the shark though, they tend not to like things that look like them. If you can move the shark they will be fine.

I have kept a group of five Blue Botias aka Y. Modesta in my African tank for several years.
Most of them are about six or seven
inches and are built like tanks.
They are more than a match for the Mbuna & Predator Haps. Am confident they can easily cohabitate with an equal sized Red Tail Shark

Frankly, after reading all this.. I'm still as unsure as I was from the start. Lol! One thing is obvious tho, the rtbs might have issues.
I think the rtbs will definitely cause you issues. If he doesn't kill the botia he may stress them enough to bring on white spot or other such issues. I wouldn't take the risk in mixing them to be honest.
