Hey all

So we went to our country house which has a lake running threw some of our land with river stones, I was thinking of taking a few to use in the fish tank but unsure if this is dangerous? They are a bit to big to boil so unsure what to do?

Also a friend has a amazing piece of wood from his brackish tank he shut down and is willing to sell it to me, I was wondering if its safe to use this in a FW tank? I believe soaking it for a day and giving it a good wash with the hose would get all the salt out?

any advice would be great thanks!

I have used river stones straight out of the water and into my tank. I have had no problems. not sure about the driftwood, but if it soaked long enough it should bleed all the salt.

scrub the rocks down and let them dry for a few days just to make sure there is nothing on them..and you should be fine

for the log i would say soak it in warm water for a few days changing the water as often as possible, a good scrubbing and you should be fine.

I have taken drift wood out of the bay and done this with no problem.
