Put two AquaClear 110s on the 75 and be done with it. As long as you keep your water level high in the tank, they are relatively quiet. I have been running the AquaClears for over 30 years with no problems. Best aquarium filter ever made.
+1, my last filter was a fluval 406, trouble free, dead quiet, held plenty of media for its size and had a good flow rate. I now have an fx5, can't say enough good about it.

I have that Aquatop cf500 canister your looking at running on my 180. So far is worked great. I'd say it should be adequate to filter your 75 but if you want high flow you'll need a power head or circulation pump. Also you'll want to toss the ceramic media that comes with it and get something like the fluval or seachem matrix to use instead. A big bag of pillow stuffing to use as filter floss will be a worthwhile investment.
