Hello, I recently bought a snakehead.
after doing the acclimation for a few minutes, I release it to the tank.
it moves around before stopping on the surface.
if stress from the transport, I expect on the bottom & hiding.
I tried to search about it but had no luck.
can help what's wrong with it?

while typing this, my snakehead dived to the middle level for a few seconds before rising back to the surface.

it breaths air, it hunts mostly things that drink or fell into the water so that seems perfectly normal for me. All my snakeheads or layed on the bottum or chilled at the surface.

Hey there! Channa do usually stay on the bottom or someplace they can chill.
What are your water parameters? Ammonia, nitrate, nitrite ? What's the temperature? What size is it?
Is your tank planted? Does it have hiding spaces?
Is the fish eating? Is the fish resting on top of, or under some things, or is it just by the surface on its own?
It's very hard to know if it/you need help without specifics, hence many questions.
Hope you and Channa are doing well?
