When i visited Texas a few years back some one dumped a Blue heeler that looked like that at my ex's farm... took it to the vet and a few months and some continues dips for the mites cleared him right up...best farm dog they have ever had,

some forms of mange are hereditary..or something like that the dog/coyote/ anything , have a compermised immune system letting the mites over populate...mites that are already there living int he hair follicles, and need care for it most of there lives, if kept clean and medicated they do fine...but if your a lazy redneck with a pup who's going to make them work and spend money on them..well then they get dumped off....and then it can spread even more!!!!
i do believe the the one im speaking of is red mange .....
horrible for the animal who can eventually die from infections and exposure to the elements.
