How do polypterus fare against cichlids? Would a single tueglesi fare well against a pair of hemichromis fasciatus long term in a 7 foot tank?

Depends on the setup and if the pair starts to breed. Also depends on individual personality of the fish.
Generally fish tend to leave polypterus alone unless they fit in their mouths.
