Dalmatian Molly Terror on new plants

What plants is it eating? I was debating getting mollies for my 75 but I see things like this every now and again and it makes me think otherwise.

Not sure what they are called but if it has a base similar to a tree branches/stems he eats the heck out of it(started with four different kinds like this now I have none!) I went with coontail plants and he doesn't seem to like those

No that F I have a main shutoff that I control from in the house just shut the water off before going to bed and open all the
windows it great!

Wouldn't you get hypothermia sleeping in 15°F temps? That's would kill all my reptiles in a matter of hours....
