DIY Overflow

trying to make an overflow from a youtube video
its made from 1 1/2 " pvc and i built it i exactly as the video said. I am trying to use this in a 75 gal tank for a sump i have about finished.

The problem is the water won't go pass the first elbow on the top. I have tried to remove the air with an air line but it still won't go pass the first top elbow.

Any Ideas or help would be very appreciated by me and my fish thank you

Hook a hose/ power head to the top and let the water start to flow then take it off and it should siphon

i always take the cap off the "exhaust pipe" the one thats the tallest and put a vacuum on it to get the siphon going.

That 'cap' needs to have a small hole drilled into it so it will vent, like your kitchen sink vents to the roof.

the first elbow, do you have a vac draw (tubing) to start?
