I'll throw this out there too,

I have had fish act like this when they are taken from the wild. My fish that I've had since they were babies have always been lethargic and lazy. I once had a spotted gar who came from the wild and he constantly displayed that very same behavior.

Good luck with him....

My florida gar has also pressed his nose against the glass and swam up and down the end of the tank (125g). He seems to do it after he's had a big meal (10 medium goldfish). He'll also make a flinching and twisting motion. This behavior only seems to occur after a big feed. The rest of the time he's either resting on the bottom, slowly cruising around the tank, or hovering just below the surface.
