Sorry no good at taking pics
btw i spent about around $130 from home depot to complete mines
unless you are keeping discus ro is not neccessay IMO just wasting water......i would use 1 sediment anf multiple carbon like mines......by running 2 carbon filters if 1 is clogged up or not dechlorinating the 2nd one will still be working.....i have read that some people use 3 and more carbon filters to lengthen changing times
I see this thread was started with a filter system from 'the filter guys' but it looks like they are no longer in business. I have an RODI filter system laying around from my saltwater days and I'd like to use that in a drip system for my new setup. Does anybody know what I should put into the RODI canisters to make it freshwater friendly?
I've read that you don't want to completely strip the water clean for freshwater plants and fish. I don't want to add back in the minerals because I'm trying to make this hands free, just turn on the water and drip constantly into the tank.
If this has already been covered in this thread or a different thread, please provide a link, that would be very helpful.
If your ro system uses the standard 10 inch by 2.5 inch filters i would ditch the membrane and just run sediment and carnon cartriges. I use the coconut shell cartriges on amazon ( 4 pack for $15 i think)Thanks for the information! So you mentioned using a sediment filter before the carbon block filter in your setup. Mine has 3 canisters/stages (5 micron sediment filter + Carbon block filter + DI resin filter). What would you recommend putting in the 3rd stage? Maybe put 2 sediment filters in front of the carbon filter?
