Duckweed for control of nitrate and "excess nutrients"

I've used a bigger version in my tanks for a few years now and just started with pothos. In my opinion they both do a good job.

I currently have water lettuce in my SA low tech planted community tank (that's a mouthfull). I monitor it every day to make sure it doesnt over take my tank. I also have amazon swords and amazon compacta. I'm worried it might choke out the compacta, like a previous poster already said, it reduces the amount of light the typical foreground plants need.
So to get to my point, I would go with water lettuce over duckweed :grinyes:

I knew it grew out of control, but I never thought about it clogging filters. You always hear that it is bad stuff because of how quickly it reproduces, I just wondered if that could be beneficial. Thanks for all of the input!
