Spend the money on live rock, sand and a quality skimmer.

Check out craigslist for rock and sand. You can usually find it a lot cheaper than the LFS.

This is true, but thats why hes on here asking the people that have had success with cutting corners.


You will need lace/base rock if you not doing live or a combination. Others will leach if not cured.

I suggest buying live sand, or live aragonite mix

get salt mix

hydrometer off ebay

skimmer

done...

buy some ones disease infested live rock and live sand its always a great idea ;)


buy lace or base rock and one nice piece of LR from the lfs, or order live rock off ebay/internet.

you can get bad rock/sand from anywhere, even the lfs. I've bought better quality rock from cl than I have from the lfs
