As my fire eel has grown bigger he has these “chunks” of skin missing at the top of his head it started with one small white patch. Its only around his head. What can it be?
We have two heater without cover and he spends most of his time inside of his tube comes out at night. He eats krill like crazy and its his only source of food. Currently over 2ft long and about 3 inches thick and living in a 220 gallon.

Also, there are multiple tubes in the tank but my ghost knife ,sun catfish and fire eel all decide to cuddle together in one?.

Does look like hith. Add some metronidazole to the tank. If I can get it to eat some hex shield then I’d suggest that first. Soak the krill in a vitamin solution like Boyd’s vitachem. Check ur water quality.

Might be the worst advice ever but those black PVCs i believe is bad for the tanks- its usually ABS pipe that is leeching off chemicals- thats why I did not purchase them for my fire eels- might be one of the reasons why? What about switching out to the water safe PVCs and see if it helps for now. I hope other members chime in as this is the only reason I ended up using white PVCs and spraying it black on my end here.
