After a couple decades of nothing but monsters and salt (years ago). I was just gifted my first ever planted tank. Never got into plants ever, other than pothos on top of a tank. Shout out brother, Bigfishnut Bigfishnut . 125, 55 sump. So overgrown with healthy plants, that i had to squash them down. Lol. Came with the big orange discus and 3 Cory's. I went and bought about 30 little dithers for color and movement, and added extra bio to the sump to accommodate . Never owned a tiny freshwater fish in my life. Started my fishkeeping w oscars a long time ago. Love the tank so far, and everybody is doing well so far. Hope it all keeps working. Nice having something completely different tankwise to look at. Lol. Oh, also, dithers are rosy feeders, fire tail platys, and neon tetras. 20231013_194408.jpg20231013_193422.jpg20231013_193416.jpg20231013_193408.jpg20231013_193354.jpg

Travis also taught me an absolutely outstanding fact that I have never utilized in any of my builds, which is how outstanding it is to have extra overflows, and have ballvalves on all. Being able to adjust water levels and drain noises is a game changer for me. Dont know how I've missed what a sweet feature this is for this many years. Dur...

And having mentioned not being into saltwater above, I have had a 100gal salt tank cycling for almost 2yrs. Lol. The Maine lobsters will be here tomorrow morning. So, back to a little bit of salt I guess. See how a lobster goes. My wife and daughter are gonna eat the others. Lol

Yeah, big fish are great...but tiny fish in a big tank create a very unique and special look, one of my favourites. I love that tank!

Do you know if the plant is Giant Hygrophila?
Thanks man! Definitely fun to watch and completely different from what I'm used to. Really enjoying it for sure. I have absolutely no idea what the plants are. Newb with plants... lol

My daughter named it Gary. Seems to be perking up and coming back to life since arrival a couple hours ago. If it works out, I'm gonna be super stoked. Really cool animal and even prettier than expected. 20231014_150140.jpglove having new interesting things to watch, especially on a super crappy western NY Saturday. Lol

Was surprised last week with some unintentional breeding. Apparently the platys are happy enough to procreate. Lol. Couldn't believe when I spotted these little fry. 20240224_214701.jpg20240224_214659.jpg20240224_214651.jpg20240224_104259.jpg20240223_195641.jpg
