My Dealer also told me he have cuban gars from a farm in Asia (100% Cuban gars).
On the pictures was a spotted aligator gar not a cuban.
So i dont think they can tell the difference between spotted and florida gars.
I am fine with floridas as long the pattern looks nice.
The 3 floridas are now in my bigger tank and the patterns are changing.
I will give you an Update.

Hi,

i picked up 3 little gars and dont know if they are spotted or florida.
They are imported to Germany from Asia and the Dealer said they are spotted gars.
Here a few pics.

regards Malte

So i guess mine will be florida too? Looks similar..

These are floridas, I have kept one spotted and know their diff now
The snout and head/snout shape tell me they are florida
The snout on the Florida and spotted are almost identical, there is no difference in length as once in captivity it won't reach the proper sizes anyways

Here are some new pics from my main tank and the gars.
They are now eating frozen fish when i use my fishing line to move it.
Some saying that i am crazy to go fishing in my aquarium ;-)

Thank you.
Today i had put some Rocks on my extra large piece of wood and now its down on the ground.
It looks much better.
My gars now eating frozen Fish and chichlid pellets .
On one gar you can see some really nice points showing up.
The other two gars didnt have such nice points, more tiny ones.

The tank is 3 meter x 0,80 meter x 0,60 meter .
There are some nice fishes in it : 3 orbingnyi rays, 3 Florida gars, 1 Hoplias Curupira, 1 Datnoides microlepis, 4 Endlicheris, 1 Hydrolycus Armatus, 1 Black Arowana.
They are all still small and i am trying out what is the best community for the tank.
When the comm for the main tank is save i will sell the other fishes.
The plan is to grow them up together so they get used to each other.
In two additional tanks i have one South american Lungfish, 4 Dats, 1 Hoplias cf.Teres, 1 Aguarunichthys torosus, 1 vatf, 6 pseudacanticus leopardus.
