Hello guys! I just bought myself a gar at my LFS. And it's labelled as a spotted gar, but it doesnt seem like a spotted gar to me. What do you guys think? Another thing is that i would like to ask is that the torn pelvic & caudal fin on my gar, would it heal by itself with good water or will it stay like that for the rest of its life?

Can someone tell me what species of gar this is? It was special ordered for me and sold to me for 10 dollars as a spotted gar. He is about 4inch. I was told spotted gars have some plates or scales on their throat or something, where the Florida doesn't, so I'm thinking this guy is a Florida but I'm no pro. Anybody know?
