I apologize in advance if this is a redundant question and I should have done more reading into the pinned messages (which is probably the case) lol.

However, I just gotta know, would a 150 gallon (L "48 x W "24 1/2 x H "31") would be big enough to fit a smaller Florida gar?

No. Minimum I would personally go would be 6 x 2.5 x 2, around 3 - 3.5 times the length of the average Florida gar length, although a better tank size would be at 8 feet lengthwise.

if it was a grow out tank however it would be fine.

There are some other gar-like fish you can stick in a 150-gallon. You could do Hujeta gars, or Needlenose (I think, not 100% certain about those).

1 florida gar would be fine in a 4’x2’ footprint. They rarely exceed 18-20” in captivity. I had one for 17 yrs and it was 18”. Housed it in plenty different tanks and larger ones also. This tank is the bare minimum IMO. I kept 3 very comfortably in a 180g tall same footprint for yrs. They acted the same as in 210’s, 300’s etc…. There very placid in my opinion and dont need much space.

Personal opinion, I think you'd be fine. Gars don't really swim alot. They tend to cruise in one spot mostly. Not to mention most florida gars in the hobby are captive bred. if you are starting it out from baby/young size, you'd be lucky to get a 20"+ specimen in few years.
